Listening two or more times improves fluency

You should listen to a chapter at least twice before you move on to the next one.

  • Use the Study Mode for one or more listens to get familiar with the speakers' accents, and any unfamiliar vocabulary and usage. Take advantage of the settings to slow down the audio and choose the level of redaction during playback.
  • The final listen in Fluent Listen Mode should be without assistance, i.e. at a natural speed, without visual hints, so that you experience the language as a continuous, fluid narrative.  This is what we call "listening like a native."

You can seamlessly switch between the two modes, so fret not if any passage feels too easy or difficult in a given moment.
